This is one of the excellent songs in which all participants MSV, Kannadasan , SPB and Vani Jairam have contributed their share fairly.

The Raga “Saranga” associated with this has added the value of Melody here.
This can be quoted as Kannadasan’s one of the best pieces due to the following reasons:
1. The song covers the story of the movie in toto in a crisp manner..
2. Grammar is made of rules while literature may skip the structure to bring happiness . The song repeatedly indicates various events linked to the movie where “இலக்கணம்” wins over “இலக்கியம் “..( இலக்கணம் மாறுதோ இலக்கியம் ஆனதோ)

3. Each Paragraph depicts the story attached to the characters played by Kamal , Sumitra, Shoba and Hanumanthu

4. The choice of each word by Kannadasan is made out of intelligent composition.
In the para of
“என் வாழ்க்கை நதியில் கரை ஒன்று கண்டேன்
உன் நெஞ்சில் ஏனோ கறை ஒன்று கண்டேன்
புரியாததாலே திரை போட்டு வைத்தேன்
திரை போட்ட போதும் அணை போட்டதில்லை
மறைத்திடும் திரைதனை
விலக்கி வைப்பாயோ
விளக்கி வைப்பாயோ”
Though Kamal and Sumithra love each other , the sudden development made Sumitra doubt Kamal. Though Sumitra did not lose confidence on Kamal’s character , the negative thought on Kamal existed.
“கரை “ and “கறை” were the words used by Kannadasan to denote “ Solution” and “dirt “ in different context.
She did not like to find fault.. For that , Kannadasan was using the word “ஏனோ “ showing doubtfulness.
Since the doubt is a temporary one , he has used the word “ திரை “ while she says that it is not “அணை” which is of highly permanent nature.
She also expects her “திரை “ to be cleared (விலக்கி) and also she wants a reason or explanation ( விளக்கி )for that.

5. Kannadasan is an ardent devotee in the midst of Tamil speaking atheist poets in those era.
The helplessness of the actress Shoba is expressed in the following lines
“தள்ளாடும் பிள்ளை உள்ளமும் வெள்ளை
தாலாட்டுப்பாட ஆதாரம் இல்லை “
The solution for Shoba’s helplessness is possible through only divine intervention. This is expressed in following lines by expressing faith in Supreme power and exhibition of confidence in the words of Lord Krishna’s Bhagwat Geetha.
“தெய்வங்கள் எல்லாம் உனக்காக பாடும்
பாடாமல் போனால் எது தெய்வமாகும்
மறுபடி திறக்கும் உனக்கொரு பாதை
உரைப்பது கீதை………..”

6. Kannadasan continues his flamboyance by quoting the greatness of divine support for the needy person Hanumanthu who is a deaf person .But Shoba feels that this deaf person assumes the position of GOD for saving her. Godhood is normally felt (நிழலாக வந்து அருள் செய்யும் தெய்வம் )
only but it is visibly realized in this case (நிஜமாக வந்து எனை காக்கக் கண்டேன்).
Moreover , theory of rebirth is flashed by Kannadasan , since the relationship looks like a miracle . Hence the objectivity is missing here and Previous lifetime must only be the reason for such miraculous relationship. Again , Kannadasan has proved himself a king in the choice of following words:
“நீ எது நான் எது ஏனிந்த சொந்தம்
பூர்வ ஜென்ம பந்தம் “

7. SPB and Vani Jairam sang so nicely and made this song very melodious.
